Best Womens Workout Routine?

by Workout Fiend on January 25, 2010

Whats the best workout routine for women looking to tone up and build some lean muscle? How much cardio a day? What types of exercises, how many reps, and how many sets?
Does anyone have any links to good articles that could help me out?

The American College of Sports Medicine offers guidelines for cardiovascular, flexibility and resistance training. The guidelines are flexible enough to allow you to pick your own exercises but have enough structure to get you going when you first start out. They are pretty easy to follow and will make your workout easier and more efficient.

most women want to work on their abs, glutes, and legs. For abs, the standard crunches and sit ups are good. Try to do these 15-25 times, 3 times a day for 6 days of the week. Leg lifts are also pretty good. Try to do these 10-15 times, with 2 sets. If you have an exercise ball, try to do crunches on them.

for glutes, here is a good website. http://www.shapefit.com/butt-workouts.html

for legs, do things such as squats and lunges. I would do these 10-20 times , 3 times a day, 3 days a week

for cardio, try to run for an hour. Also, take a 10 minute walk after dinner.

Hope this helps!
