Hi everyone,
Summer has started and I started working out about 4 days ago. I’ve noticed a slight buildup in my muscle tone with a combination of rest in between workouts so far.
Heres my routine:
- Walk/Jog in the morning and night to and from my classes, takes about 1:30-2 hours in total a day.
- about 100 pushups throughout the day
- 100 lifts using two 10-lb dumbbells twice-three a day
- 200 squats
- 50 situps
Is there something I should change? Maybe be aware of?
Thanks.

This is a good start, but you need to be aware of the possibility of injury.
Muscles work in opposition to each other, in groups. Thus the biceps work in oppostition to the triceps. When you bend your arm, your biceps contract and your triceps relax. When you straighten your arm, the opposite happens. One set of muscles can become too strong for its opposite group to be able to handle. When that happens, people develop strains, sprains, torn muscles and tendinitis. Avoid these injuries.
Take out some books from the library showing you how to work muscles in opposition to each other, and aside from cardio try exercising the upper body and then the lower body the next day. If you get into a rhythm like this, you should be able to avoid injury.
You are working yourself really hard. Make sure that you do not add anything else to your workout. Set aside one day a week to just rest, this time is when you build the most muscle, because the muscle actually has time to grow. So far though you are doing good!
