Does Muscle Milk help replace fat with lean muscle when performing appropriate workout routines?

by Workout Fiend on April 10, 2010

I just joined Air Force JROTC and I’ve decided to take advantage of our physical training days to lose my gut and tone up the rest of my body.

I bought a tub of Muscle Milk powder today under the impression that it would help me achieve my goal.

I want to be sure that, when taken appropriately, Muscle Milk will help me to burn excess fat and replace it with lean muscle during workouts?

Thank you.

It’s a protein supplement. That means that it helps provide your body with the building blocks it needs to build muscle. In itself MuscleMilk is not a fat burner/weight reducing product. In fact if you add it to your existing nutrition and don’t exercise sufficiently you could end up gaining additional fat rather than muscle!

Muscle milk is THE perfect choice for your workout regiment. But – lets make sure you understand what it will do – and what it won’t do.

Muscle milk is a Protein blend. It includes fast-acting Whey proteins, and slow acting Casein proteins. For body weight training, and athletics, this is a great balance. It includes a high level of healthy fats — so don’t get all freaked about the vfat content. Unless your being completely lazy, medium-chain triglycerides will remain in your blood stream for a very long time, ready to be used as energy. The added calories in MM (300), will help power you though some tough workouts.

Nothing “converts” fat into muscle. That’s impossible. Muscle tissue and fat cells are two completely different things. That’s like asking how to convert gasoline into an automobile. (yea… Huh?)

When your muscles are worked very hard, they become damaged. This triggers your natural growth hormones to call for repair. Proteins and other nutrients get used to grow, build, or repair muscle cells. Without this hormone trigger – Excess proteins get flushed down the toilet, and the calories from fat are converted to body fat.

Think about it. Dump a truck full for bricks (protein) on your front yard. Does this pile of brick miraculously become a building? Or – does it require a builder (growth hormone) to assemble those bricks? The builder (hormone) get’s its instructions from your genes (your genetic blueprint). Get it?

muscle milk is a low quality, synthetically fortified water based product with a low quality protein blend containing high amounts of soy. Its also full of chemicals like acesulfame potassium, a known carcinogen which can fluctuate your insulin levels. Stay away from that junk and find a natural whey protein. No real athlete would ever be seen with Muscle MIlk.
