hey!
I’m a jr. tennis player and have played tennis for about 8 yrs.
There are many things that you can do to work out for tennis.
First, before you go on to weights, try to run at the very least 1 mile every other day. For weights, work on the leg machines as well as the upper body and arms. Also, try jumperoping. Yes, it seems like something only girls do, but all of the top players currently do it. I try to do at least 200 jumps in one session, at a very fast speed, but you can start off a lot less and work your way up. I also try lots of different stretches, as it helps with flexibility.
well i am a jr. tennis player that competes in tournaments my personal trainer and i usually go to the weights first and then we go to the think where you have to push the bar up with your legs (i dont no what its called) and then we go on the tredmill…skier….ect…and then we warm up
I’ve played tennis for a while, and at a decent level.
you want to get alot of stamina. mainly make sure you take care of your legs. alot of running, sprinting, leg press, lunges, etc… do some arms, its pretty important for injury prevention, but definatly not as important as legs.
and make sure, This is very important, ABS and CORE. balance is very important, make sure you work out your abs and core atleast a quarter of the time your at the gym.
the first thing in tennis is to get to the ball, after that you have to be in position to hit it. legs and core take care of the first two steps to hitting a ball.
if i where setting up a gym routine i would start with a quarter of the time doing cardio, half the time doing weights (upper and lower body) and the last quarter doing abbs
hope that helps, and dont confuse me for someone who knows what they are talking about. I have no formal personal training knowledge, Im an electrical engineer thats played tennis alot
