Quit smoking, need some advise.?

February 10th, 2010

Hello!
I’ve recently quit smoking, and I’m trying to get healthy again. I’ve been eating well, and just recently got a free month pass to a gym by my house. I don’t know anything about working out, so I’m just looking for some tips. I don’t need to loose weight (if anything I could use to gain a few pounds), I just want to get in shape.
How often should I go to the gym?
What are good machines/workout routines for someone just trying to get in shape?

Thanks for your help!

Fitness Gurus — spare some advice for a old new beginner?

I’ve been reading through the Q’s & A’s, looking for my answer and I must applaud everyone’s generosity.

Here’s my story.

I turn 50 next month. Noting that milestone in my life three weeks ago I decided to quit wallowing in self-worth issues from my divorce and dedicate the hour I used for porn surfing to trying to land a real woman!

I’m sure you can imagine — smoker, drinker, beer belly. So, I created a routine for my hour.

Here is what I have been doing…
I bought Carmen Electra’s Striptease Workout (a little eye candy for an old man) and do the 15 minute warm up.
Then I walk for 30 minutes.
Back home (up 3 flights of stairs) I do 50 curls with 5 lb weights.
Then, sweating like a pig and gasping for air I just walk around my place for 15 minutes cooling off and drinking water.

After three weeks of doing this everyday — I cool down a lot quicker so I think I can do another 5 minutes of ….something.
And that is the question I pose …

My goal is ‘better by May’.

Need some good workout routines?

February 8th, 2010

I started working out about 2-3 months ago. I dont know a lot about training muscles and proper diet but i try.

I am a healthy eater i think, but dont really think about what is full of all the good stuff ineed to increase strenght. (I do NOT eat fast food or french fries. chik-fil-a isnt fast food to me :) but should be in that catagory.)

I usually do the machines as they have an explanation of what muscles they work out.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what i should do in the weight room. I want to get off of machines and move to free weights.

ANY SUGGESTION WILL HELP.
If this is important. Im 22 and have 10% body fat
Trying to gain weight, not drop it.

no external links please, just some help.

Could anyone suggest some good workout routines for before work and after?

February 8th, 2010

I am looking for some good moves/routines to help me with trimming my tummy fat. I have done 100 sit ups a night, but that gets boring after a while. Any other moves I can do that don’t require a lot of workout equipment?
